PAD - Provided by the Association of Software Professionals
PAD is the Portable Application Description, and it helps authors provide product descriptions and specifications to online sources in a standard way, using a standard data format that will allow webmasters and program librarians to automate program listings. PAD saves time for both shareware authors and webmasters.

PAD Signing with PADGen
How to sign PAD files using PADGen
First, it is recommended that you verify your data using the File, Verify Entries command.
- Generate your PAD file through File, Generate PAD File.
- Then, select Tools, Sign PAD File and enter your PAD file name (superwidget.xml).
- Select the PAD file you want to sign (the one you just generated, superwidget.xml).
- Select the PFX file containing the private key and certificate
(widgetsco.pfx) you want to sign with. Note: The organization name of your certificate must match exactly
with the company name or the first and last name in your PAD file.
- Enter the password for your PFX file.
You can try viewing the signed PAD file using your favorite PAD file editor to
make sure the results are compatible. If you modify and save a signed PAD file using
a PAD file editor the signature will be lost, which is fine since the signature would
no longer be valid anyway. To view what was done to the PAD to incorporate the
signature, you can use either an XML file editor or a conventional text file editor.
